• Where possible take your photographs
on a bright day outside.
• Avoid direct sunlight or using
a flash as this will not give a true colouring
and the latter tends to cause red eye.
• Focus on the head
as closely as you can without blurring the image.
• Take photographs
from several angles and different poses. Try to be on
the same level or slightly lower than your pet.
• If, like
me, you have a pet that will not stand or sit still,
you will need to have someone hold them in position, it
does not matter if they have a hand showing in the photograph,
as long as they are not covering any important markings.
• Your pet needs to fill most of the photograph.
The larger the photograph the better, ideally A4 size if
possible. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of a
close, sharp, detailed image, as this is all I will have
to work with. The better the photographs the better the
finished portrait will be!
•
In circumstances
where your pet has departed and you only have a few
blurred snap shots I will do my very best to to get his
or her likeness.
• Your pets' eyes are a very important part of the portrait,
so I need them to be as clear as possible.
• I always recommend you send me copies, where possible,
just in case they are lost in the post.
• Your photographs will be returned to you with the finished
portrait.
• Here is a good example of an ideal photograph:
